  • Welcome to My Page

This is my site. Please have a look around. Contact me if you have any questions. See you in class! Welcome to the Chemistry Lab! The world of chemistry is huge! Everything around you is made of chemicals - the land, the sea, the air - even you! Chemistry explains what things are made of and how they change. We use chemistry in medicine, food, and clothing. In fact, every time we cook, we are using chemistry. Scientists observe and learn about the things around them. They test out different ideas to help make sense of the world we live in. In this unit, you will be a scientist! You will observe chemical reactions, distinguish chemical change from physical change. You will learn how to write word equations for the reactions observed, and write formulas for simple molecules. By the end of this unit, you should be able to read some formula equations used to describe chemical reactions, and you should understand the purpose of such equations. You will also identify the chemical names of substances used in everyday life, and appreciate the dependence that Canadian society has on both natural and synthetic chemicals. The job of a scientist is very difficult. There is a lot of detail and attention in their job. But what a fun and interesting job it is! Lets get going and discover the world of chemistry together!
